Located in one of the few Seattle neighborhoods with alleys, this small free-standing accessory dwelling unit was originally renovated as an open studio without dedicated storage space. Highly finished OSB provided a cheap and attractive material to create a bedroom like space within the studio which houses clothing storage, the washer/dryer, & miscellaneous storage. This storage piece includes a ceiling element which defines the open space and conceals the garage door track above. A custom murphy bed allows this space to open up to become a flexible open space. Felt wrapped panels can be moved aside to reveal the garage door which can be opened to provide the studio with ample fresh air & light and access to an outdoor area for lounging, wrenching, and working.
