A 2,000 mile cross section cataloging the architecture of some of the most remote regions of the United States. The more that familiar archetypes are seen, the more the differences appear, highlighting the gradient of regionalisms from north to south. Many are nearly unseen, dotting the vast landscape. These spatial relationships echo the romantic notions of the pioneer spirit and yet bring the independent and isolated nature of rural space to the foreground.
